No. Photos are read in your browser. The text recognition engine and a language file download once; your images stay on your device.

How should I photograph a receipt?

Flat, sharp and evenly lit, filling most of the picture. Slight tilts are straightened. Faded thermal paper can be misread: check fields marked in amber or red.

What does it read from a receipt?

The store name, its tax number when printed, the receipt number, the date, the items with quantities and prices, the tax and the total. Cash handed over and change are not taken for the total.
