Frequently asked questions
What is Motion Transfer?
Motion Transfer copies the movement, camera and timing of a video onto a different character. You provide a motion video and a picture of the character. The performer in the video is replaced, and the background and pacing stay as filmed.
What is the difference between Motion Transfer and Object Swap?
Motion Transfer replaces the person in a clip with your character. Object Swap changes one thing you describe, such as an outfit, a product or a sign, and leaves everything else in the shot untouched.
Do I need to write a prompt?
Not for Motion Transfer. A picture and a video are enough, and you can add a short note if you want to guide the result. No picture? Describe the character in a short prompt instead. Object Swap needs a short description of what should change.
How long can the video be?
Between 4 and 30 seconds. Only the first 30 seconds of a longer video are used, and a shorter video is billed as 4 seconds. The result has the same length as the part of the video that was used.
How many reference pictures can I use?
They are optional, and you can use up to 30 in each mode. In Motion Transfer the first picture is the character, and the others can show an outfit, props or a location. In Object Swap they show characters, outfits, products and locations.
Are uploads checked?
Yes. Pictures, videos and results are checked against our usage policy, and requests that break it are refused. Only upload footage and pictures you have the right to use, and do not use other people's likeness without their permission.
Is there an API?
Yes. Both modes are available through the same REST API, CLI and MCP server as the rest of WaveSpeedAI, at the price shown on their model pages.
