Open a cell
Click or tap any cell. The first one is always safe and opens an area. Each number shows how many of the eight cells around it hide a mine.
Clear the field without hitting a mine. The first click is always safe.
Turn on no-guess boards, ask for a hint that explains itself, and race the daily board.
Keyboard: arrows to move, Space to dig or chord, F to flag, H for a hint, R for a new game.
Click or tap any cell. The first one is always safe and opens an area. Each number shows how many of the eight cells around it hide a mine.
Right-click, long-press or switch the tap mode to Flag to mark a cell you know is a mine. The counter shows how many mines are left.
Open every safe cell to win. Click a number whose mines are all flagged, with both buttons or a double-click, to open its other neighbours at once.
Most of the board can be solved by logic. These patterns cover the moves you will use again and again.
A number minus the flags around it tells you how many mines are still hidden next to it. If that is zero, every other neighbour is safe.
When a number has exactly as many hidden neighbours as mines left to find, all of them are mines. Flag them and move on.
Along a straight edge, 1-2-1 means mines sit under both 1s, and 1-2-2-1 means mines sit under both 2s. Learn these and long walls go quickly.
If one number’s hidden cells all touch a second number, the second one’s extra mines must be in the cells only it touches. The hint calls this out.
Flag a number’s mines, then chord on it to open the rest in one go. Fewer clicks means a better efficiency and a faster time.
Near the end, the number of mines left can settle a corner the numbers alone cannot. When all else fails, guess where a mine is least likely, such as a corner far from numbers.

Yes. Mines are placed after your first click, never on it or next to it, so the first click always opens an area.
A no-guess board can be cleared by logic alone from the first click. Before you play, a solver checks each candidate board and only keeps one it can finish without guessing. On very large or crowded custom boards it may not find one in time; the game then tells you the board may need a guess.
No. A hint only names a cell when every arrangement of mines that fits the open numbers agrees on it, and it explains which numbers prove it. If nothing can be proven, it says so instead of guessing. Using a hint makes the game practice, so it does not count in your stats.
Long-press a cell to flag it, or switch the tap mode to Flag so a tap places flags. Double-tap a number to chord. Pinch or use the zoom buttons on big boards; the overview map lets you jump around.
When a number already has all its mines flagged, chording opens all its other neighbours at once. Use the middle button, both buttons, a double-click, Space on a number, or a double-tap. If a flag is wrong, chording sets off the mine.
3BV is the smallest number of clicks that clears the board without flags: each open area counts once, plus every number not next to an open area. 3BV/s is that divided by your time, and efficiency compares it with the clicks you made.
Everyone gets the same daily board each day (UTC), and any board has a code once you start it. Share the link and others play the same board from the marked start cell, so you can compare times.
Yes. Focus the board, move with the arrow keys, press Space to dig or chord and F to flag. The board is an accessible grid and each move is announced, for example “row 4, column 7, 3 adjacent mines”.
