Multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up and divide by the total credits. On the 4.0 scale an A is 4.0, a B 3.0, a C 2.0, a D 1.0 and an F 0, with plus and minus grades in between.
Unweighted GPA uses the 4.0 scale for every course. Weighted GPA gives extra points for harder courses: usually +0.5 for honors and +1.0 for AP, IB or college classes, so it can go above 4.0.
At most schools an A+ is 4.0, the top of the scale. Some colleges count it as 4.33. Choose either one in the scale settings.
Add each semester, or enter your GPA and credits so far under Earlier semesters. The calculator combines them by credits, so a bigger semester counts more.
Yes. An F counts its credits with 0 points, which lowers the GPA. It gets no honors or AP bonus. Courses without a grade or credits are left out.
This calculator uses the common US 4.0 scale with plus and minus grades. You can change the A+ value and the weighting bonuses; for other scales, check your school's rules.
