How Do I Remove an Object from a Video Using AI?

Overview

To remove an object from video with AI, use a video-eraser route that identifies the unwanted region and rebuilds the background across affected frames. WaveSpeedAI currently lists a video eraser for that purpose. Its Image Eraser is for still images, so it is not the same workflow applied to a moving clip.

The short workflow is: choose footage you may edit, upload it to the video-eraser path, identify the object and affected frames with the tool’s current selection control, then generate and compare the result with the original. Keep the selection narrow. Removing one small item from a steady background is different from rebuilding detail behind a large moving person. Save source and output separately; do not assume the still-image eraser accepts a video or the same mask.

Review the entire affected sequence, not just a representative frame. Look for flicker, duplicated texture, warped shadows and changes to nearby people or products. If the object crosses a face or a key branded element, manual compositing or reshooting may be more reliable. For an ad, route the finished clip through rights and brand review before publication.

Use the eraser as a repair step within a controlled edit workflow. It can remove visible pixels, but it cannot supply missing detail with certainty or authorize removal of provenance marks.

Before accepting an automated repair, compare the surrounding frames before and after the masked interval. Consistent color, texture and geometry across the transition matter as much as the single clean frame shown in a preview. Check the exported duration as well.
