Is this dithering tool free?

Yes. Dither and download as many images as you like, with no account or watermark.

What is the difference between the dithering methods?

Error diffusion (Floyd–Steinberg, Jarvis, Stucki, Sierra) spreads each pixel’s rounding error to its neighbours for natural-looking grain; Jarvis and Stucki spread it wider for smoother tones. Atkinson spreads only part of it, giving a lighter, crisper look. Bayer uses a fixed pattern of dots.

Why does the image look grey when zoomed out?

That is dithering working: your eye blends the black dots into tones. Switch the preview to 100% to see the real pixels.

Can I use it for laser engraving?

Yes, that is what the presets are for: pick your material and DPI, then import the PNG into LightBurn in pass-through mode.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
