How Do I Store and Serve Generated AI Media?

Overview

Store a completed generation in private storage before review, then serve only the approved version through your authorized media path or CDN. Do not wait for approval before downloading: WaveSpeedAI says generated media generally expires within seven days, while some metadata can remain longer. A prediction output URL is a short-lived transfer point, not a permanent asset address.

Build the asset record before generation: owner, input permissions, prompt or brief reference, model route, job ID, intended use and retention class. When a task completes, validate the returned file, save the original to private storage, then moderate and review it. Create public derivatives only after approval. Keep an immutable link between the approved derivative and its source task so a rights or quality question can be traced later. Uploaded reference images have their own lifecycle; WaveSpeedAI’s upload guide also describes limited retention.

For delivery, use access controls appropriate to the audience. A private user project should not leak through a public guessable URL. Set cache headers for stable approved versions, and invalidate or replace assets when a customer revokes consent or an ad is withdrawn. Separate a thumbnail preview from the full-resolution master so page load does not depend on a large video download.

Choose your own deletion schedule based on customer terms and obligations. Provider retention helps you plan the copy step; it does not define your product’s complete privacy policy.
