How Can Developers Get a FLUX API Key and Integrate the FLUX API?

Overview

To use a FLUX model through WaveSpeedAI, create a WaveSpeedAI API key and call the selected FLUX endpoint with that key as a bearer token. For the documented FLUX.2 Flex Edit route, send a prompt and an images URL array to its model-specific POST endpoint. A text-to-image FLUX route needs a different payload. A new key is active, while billable calls still need eligible account access and credits.

Keep the key on your server, not in browser code. First choose generation or editing. For a local edit reference, request an upload ticket, PUT the image bytes to its signed URL and use the returned download_url in images; a public permitted image URL can be used directly. Next POST the route’s required fields, save its prediction ID and GET the result. Do not send a local file path to a remote model.

Before opening the feature to users, validate image rights, file type, dimensions and prompt length on your side. Store a job record that ties the user action to the model route, request settings, prediction ID and final asset. Handle incomplete or failed tasks without quietly charging the user twice through blind retries.

The next useful step is a narrow pilot: one FLUX route, a small set of real inputs and an explicit acceptance check. Once that works, a second route can be added behind the same app interface without promising identical behavior from both models.
