Can MiniMax H3 Run on an RTX 3060?

Overview

Not on any GPU yet — including an RTX 3060 — because MiniMax H3 cannot be run locally at the moment. As of early August 2026 the model is API-only: it was announced on July 31, 2026 as open-weight, but the weights have not shipped and MiniMax has published no hardware requirements. Source note: Verified 2026-08-06 against the MiniMax official H3 blog, MiniMax Video Generation API docs, and Hugging Face MiniMax-H3 model page.

So today the honest answer is that no local GPU, a 3060 or otherwise, comes into it — using H3 means calling a hosted API, where generation runs on the provider’s hardware.

When the open weights are released, a 12GB card like the 3060 is likely to be tight for a 2K, audio-generating video model — video models are memory-hungry, and you may be limited to shorter or lower-resolution runs if it works at all — but treat that as speculation until MiniMax publishes real VRAM requirements. Do not plan around specs that do not exist.

For now, if you hoped to run H3 on a modest local card, the API is the route instead. Re-check MiniMax’s official channels for the weight release and its stated hardware needs before assuming any specific GPU will work.
