Does MiniMax H3 Local Generation Support 2K Output?

Whether local MiniMax H3 generation reaches 2K, and why local weights and API capabilities should not be conflated.

Does MiniMax H3 Local Generation Support 2K Output?

Overview

There is no local generation yet, so the question does not apply for now. As of early August 2026 MiniMax H3 is API-only: it was announced on July 31, 2026 as open-weight, but the weights have not been released, so you cannot generate anything locally, at 2K or otherwise. Source note: Verified 2026-08-06 against the MiniMax official H3 blog, MiniMax Video Generation API docs, and Hugging Face MiniMax-H3 model page.

Through the hosted API, 2K is the model’s primary resolution (around a 1440-pixel short edge, 24fps), with a 768p tier reported in closed beta. That capability runs on MiniMax’s infrastructure, not your hardware.

When the open weights ship, whether local generation reaches 2K will depend on the released model and your GPU’s memory — high-resolution video is demanding, and a local build may cap lower or need serious VRAM to match the API. Do not assume the local weights will match hosted 2K until MiniMax publishes the local specs.

For now, if you need 2K output, the API is the route. Treat “local 2K” as a future question to revisit once the weights are out and their resolution limits are documented, rather than something to plan a pipeline around today.
