AI video API prices vary because routes buy different work and meter it differently. For example, the google/veo3 page checked September 29, 2026 listed $0.20/s without audio versus $0.40/s with audio, while WaveSpeedAI’s Kling 3.0 Standard text-to-video overview listed a starting $0.42/run. The latter is not directly cheaper: duration, quality settings and output requirements differ, and the final charge can change with parameters.

WaveSpeedAI’s current pricing guide describes model-dependent usage charges and an estimate for specified inputs; the public table shows per-second units on selected video routes. That does not make every route per-second or every second equally priced. Variant, quality mode and optional features can alter the estimate. The final charge may also differ from a pre-run estimate. To compare, record the exact model ID, duration, resolution, aspect ratio, audio choice and output count for each quote, then test one representative job.

For a production budget, add creative rejection rate. If a high-quality setting needs fewer rerenders to meet brand review, its higher unit quote could still lower the cost per accepted clip. Keep provider charges separate from your own editing, moderation and storage expenses so the reason for a price difference stays visible.

The practical question is what the approved video costs under the current route and settings. Refresh the quote when a model version or campaign specification changes; an old category average is not a reliable buying guide.
