Can I Use AI Generated Videos in Paid Ads?

Overview

Yes, AI-generated videos can be used in paid ads when the selected model’s terms allow commercial use and you have rights to the inputs, people, music and marks in the finished creative. That answer is route-specific, not a blanket permission attached to every AI video API. WaveSpeedAI says many model outputs can be commercial, but not all.

Review the exact model and provider terms before production. If a video starts from a product photo, confirm the team may modify and advertise that image. If it depicts a person, verify likeness or talent consent; if it imitates a celebrity, trademark or protected character, obtain the relevant rights rather than assuming generation confers them. Check whether the model or provider imposes additional restrictions, and review the ad network’s own policy. Platform terms alone do not establish copyright eligibility or non-infringement.

Keep a traceable approval record: prompt, input asset license, model route and version, output, human edits and the final ad channel. This helps legal and brand reviewers identify which claim or visual needs revision. A separate authenticity or disclosure review may also be needed for the jurisdiction and campaign; no general answer replaces that check.

The safest workflow treats generation as one production step, not a transfer of all necessary rights. Ask a qualified reviewer to clear the exact final video before media spend begins.

For each campaign, record who cleared the inputs, the generated footage, the advertising claims and the destination placement. If any one of those elements changes, send the revised creative through the relevant review again.
