Wan 3.0 480p vs 720p vs 1080p: Which Should I Use?

Overview

Use Wan 3.0 480p for cheap draft exploration, 720p for normal creative review, and 1080p for outputs that are likely to be published or delivered to customers. Current WaveSpeedAI pages list all three tiers, but the right choice depends on stage, channel, and retry risk.

480p is useful when you are testing prompt structure, reference fit, motion direction, or aspect ratio. It keeps iteration cheaper while you learn whether the scene works. It is not ideal for judging fine product details, text, facial nuance, or final polish.

720p is often the practical review tier because it shows enough detail for motion and composition decisions without jumping immediately to the highest-cost option. 1080p should be reserved for clips that already passed concept review or need sharper presentation.

On WaveSpeedAI, make resolution part of the approval workflow. Start low, review objectively, then promote selected jobs. This prevents teams from spending delivery-level budget on prompts that have not yet proved they can produce an acceptable clip. Use the final channel, not personal preference, to decide when 1080p is necessary. Re-render only clips that already pass the creative brief.
