Photoshop Upscale Image or Export to WaveSpeed?

Before exporting, save a version of the document with its layers, masks, and type intact. Flatten only a copy intended for image processing. A WaveSpeed result will not bring Photoshop's layers back. For a poster with editable type, a retouched portrait composite, or a package mockup, keep the original document as the authority even if a larger raster is needed later. Test one layered product composite with a masked subject and editable headline. The handoff mistake is clear: a flattened enlarged file may look acceptable alone but no longer supports the next designer's edit.

Staying in Photoshop can suit a designer refining a composition. WaveSpeed's standard image API suits an approved raster that must be reproduced for delivery through another system. It accepts an image, target resolution, and output format. It does not perform layer-aware document editing, nor does it expose Photoshop's editing tools. Use the same exported source for a fair test. Compare edge geometry, visible text, fine patterns, and color after bringing each result into the final layout. Upscaling may add plausible texture. For product labels, documentary images, and likenesses, check whether that texture changes facts. The output can be larger and still fail the brief. If an API produces multiple sizes, record each target against its placement. Do not overwrite the source PSD with an AI export or imply that one result replaces all layers.
