HitPaw Photo Enhancer
Enlarge a photo in WaveSpeedAI’s free browser enhancer without installing desktop software. Select 2×, 3×, or 4×, compare details, then download. HitPaw FotorPea is a desktop product with specialized models; check whether those controls matter for your image.

Try this workflow
Choose a permitted photo with a color cast and fine texture.
Enhance it in WaveSpeed at a measured scale, then test the HitPaw mode you intend to use.
Compare color accuracy, halos and saved dimensions without assuming either wins.
How should you compare color recovery with HitPaw?
- No controlled color-recovery benchmark between WaveSpeed and HitPaw FotorPea is available. Test the same faded image and inspect neutral areas, skin tone and fine texture in the saved outputs.
- A desktop installation does not by itself prove that every model runs offline or keeps data local; confirm the selected mode's processing requirements.
Which costs should you compare with HitPaw?
- HitPaw publishes desktop plan and model details, while WaveSpeed’s browser enhancer is free and separate API models are usage-based.
- Separate license and deployment from image quality. WaveSpeed's free enhancer says its browser edit stays on the device; a separately chosen API model is a different cloud route. HitPaw's desktop installer alone does not establish whether the selected AI mode transfers data, so check that mode's current privacy and processing terms before using sensitive photos.
Match the enhancement mode to the defect
HitPaw’s FotorPea guide distinguishes Face Restoration, Upscale, Denoise, Sharpen and AI Color models. That is more specific control than selecting an enlargement in WaveSpeed’s free browser enhancer. More controls are useful only if the problem calls for them; neither company’s product page demonstrates a same-photo quality winner.
| Source problem | Test in HitPaw | Compare with WaveSpeed |
|---|---|---|
| Colorless archival print | AI Color, keeping the original scan | General upscale without claiming historically true color |
| High-ISO grain | Denoise | Texture preserved around hair and cloth |
| Small but legible portrait | Face Restoration or Upscale | Identity and eye shape at equal display size |
Suppose you have an authorized faded portrait with a gray reference card visible in the frame. Keep that card and the original scan, and compare whether neutral areas remain neutral in each saved result. Do not call colorization “recovered original color”: the source cannot establish what the sitter wore. If the task is only to make a usable larger copy, begin with the simpler browser route. If it requires separate denoising and color decisions, test the corresponding HitPaw modes and verify its current export terms before buying.
Comparing sharpness, texture, and export size
For an image whose main defect is blur, HitPaw's FotorPea guide breaks its Sharpen/Blur Repair route into Lens Blur, Motion Blur and Compression Blur. If capture notes confirm missed focus, assess Lens Blur; if the camera or subject moved, assess Motion Blur; if block artifacts came from a compressed file, assess Compression Blur. Soft letter edges alone do not identify which defect caused them. These are documented mode labels, not results from a comparison test.
WaveSpeed's browser route instead starts with a 2×, 3× or 4× output size. If a tiny product image mainly needs more pixels, calculate the required width first. If the image is already large but its edges or colors are defective, choose the relevant HitPaw mode for a fair trial. Record the selected mode or scale, both saved dimensions, and one matching crop of text, face and neutral color before drawing any quality conclusion.
Choosing settings for one-off or batch work
- For a one-off enlargement, test WaveSpeed's free browser tool at the scale you need. Evaluate a specialized HitPaw desktop mode only when it addresses the actual defect.
- For many files, test representative inputs and confirm each product's processing, network and export requirements before committing a batch.
Next step: Start with one faded but owned image in the free browser enhancer, then check color against the best available source.
