Enhance Photo Quality Online
Start with the best original file you have. WaveSpeed’s free browser enhancer can enlarge a soft or compressed image by 2×, 3× or 4×, show a before/after comparison and download a PNG, JPG or WebP. It processes the file in your browser.

Try this workflow
Choose the best source photo and note its starting dimensions.
Enhance it online at 2×, 3× or 4× according to the required output width.
Compare the preview, then verify the downloaded pixels and any changed text or faces.
What's the first step in fixing a low-quality photo online?
- Drop, choose or paste a photo into the free tool. Pick Balanced and 2× as a conservative first attempt, then raise the scale only if the intended use needs more pixels.
- Start with an original rather than a social-media screenshot if you have one.
Can you preview the fix before downloading?
- Yes. After processing, move the before/after slider over a label, a face edge and a plain area. Download only if the label stays correct and no halo or banding appears.
Use an online enhancement acceptance sheet
WaveSpeed’s free browser enhancer states that images stay on the device, supports 2×, 3× and 4× enlargement, and allows PNG, JPG or WebP downloads. Decide whether those capabilities meet the actual destination before processing. An increase in pixel dimensions is a separate question from whether the photo looks accurate.
| Record before upload | Record after download | Pass condition |
|---|---|---|
| Original width × height and format | Final width × height and format | Meets the destination’s stated size and format |
| One area with known detail, such as a product label | Same crop at 100% | The visible words and outline remain faithful |
| One smooth area and one textured area | Same crops at 100% | No obvious banding, plastic texture or edge halo |
For example, a seller with an authorized 1200 × 800 product photo may try 2× for a 2400 × 1600 listing asset. That is a target calculation, not an observed output. If a label becomes sharper but a character changes, fail the file even if its dimensions are correct. Keep the original and record the reason; another input photo or manual editing may solve the real problem better than another upscale.
Comparing sharpness, texture, and export size
Input megabytes and output pixels answer different questions. An illustrative 8 MB image that is only 640 pixels wide fits below the published 50 MB input cap, yet a 2× export is only about 1280 pixels wide. If the destination requires 2000 pixels, choose a larger source or an appropriate scale before judging sharpness. Verify the saved file, because the preview does not establish download dimensions.
For a product image, check the smallest printed label and a high-contrast edge; for a portrait, compare eye shape and hair texture. Use JPG or WebP when a photographic web asset needs a smaller file, or PNG when lossless graphics and text matter. The format choice does not repair altered letters or an invented face.
Choosing settings for one-off or batch work
- For occasional photos, the free browser enhancer is the direct path; it is not an API endpoint.
- For automation, validate a separate WaveSpeed API model rather than treating the free browser enhancer as an API. WaveSpeed's FAQ explicitly says it has no dedicated batch-submission endpoint: submit individual predictions within your account's rate and concurrency limits, then track each result by polling or webhook.
Next step: Start with the best source in the free browser enhancer; compare the saved file at its intended display size.
