How blurry can a photo be before it's unfixable?
- If a face or sign is unrecognizable in the original, AI may invent plausible features rather than recover the truth.
- Classify the defect before upscaling: a small low-resolution image has too few pixels, a compressed image has block artifacts, a soft-focus image has weak edges, and motion blur has directional streaks.

Diagnose the blur before enlarging
An upscaler can add plausible detail, but it cannot prove what an unreadable face or sign originally contained. WaveSpeed's free enhancer offers 2×, 3× and 4× output. Classify the defect before choosing a factor:

For an owned shop-sign photo, write down only the text genuinely readable before processing. If just “OPEN” is legible, a newly crisp phone number is not a recovered fact. Keep the original and compare matching crops at 100% and at delivery size before using the enhanced file.
