A 12-second highlight: the key steps and the finished birdhouse.
Auto Edit turns raw footage into a short, finished video by automatically deciding what is worth keeping. Upload one or several source videos, optionally describe the topic, style, or target length, and the editor reviews the footage, selects the most relevant moments, arranges them into a coherent sequence, and adds captions when verified speech is available.
Use Auto Edit when you want the AI to decide which parts of the footage should make the final cut. It is designed for turning long recordings, multiple clips, product footage, events, tutorials, interviews, or other raw material into a concise highlight or social-ready video without manually reviewing and assembling the timeline.
Automatic video editing
Turn raw footage into a finished short-form edit without manually selecting clips or arranging a timeline.
Whole-source review
Source footage is reviewed before moments are selected, helping the edit focus on relevant content rather than simply using the beginning of the video.
Prompt-guided editing
Describe the topic, editing direction, or desired length, such as a 30-second highlight of the finished result.
Works with spoken and visual content
Spoken footage is edited around complete sentences. When usable speech is unavailable, the editor can select content based on what is visible while retaining the original audio.
Multi-video support
Combine up to 8 source videos into a single finished edit.
Flexible aspect ratios
Create landscape, vertical, square, portrait, or ultrawide output for different platforms and publishing workflows.
Caption-aware editing
Captions are generated only for verified speech and can be repositioned when the source already contains burned-in subtitles.
| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| videos | Yes | Source videos provided as URLs or uploads. Supports 1–8 videos. Up to 2 hours of each video are processed; longer inputs are truncated. |
| prompt | No | Optional instructions describing what the edit should focus on, its style, or desired length. Leave empty to let the editor determine the edit automatically. |
| aspect_ratio | No | Output aspect ratio: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, or 21:9. If omitted, the output follows the source video. |
| language | No | Language of the output captions and voice: auto, en, fr, es, pt, it, ru, zh-CN, zh-TW, ja, ko. auto (default) keeps the source language. A different language translates the captions and replaces the speech with a translated voiceover, without lip sync. |

time.sleep(2)Ai Video Editor Auto Edit is a WaveSpeedAI model for video editing, exposed as a REST API on WaveSpeedAI. AI Video Editor Auto Edit turns raw footage into a short, watchable cut: it finds the moments that matter across one or several videos, follows your prompt for topic, style and length, and delivers a finished edit with captions. Ready-to-use REST inference API, best performance, no coldstarts, affordable pricing. You can call it programmatically or try it from the playground above.
POST your input parameters to the model's REST endpoint (shown in the API tab of this playground) with your WaveSpeedAI API key in the Authorization header. Submission returns a prediction ID. Poll the result endpoint starting around every 2 seconds, increase the interval for long-running tasks, and stop on any terminal status. The playground generates Python, JavaScript, and cURL examples for submitting requests and polling results. Full request/response shape is documented at https://wavespeed.ai/docs/docs-api/wavespeed-ai/ai-video-editor-auto-edit.
Ai Video Editor Auto Edit starts at $0.5 per run. That figure is the base price — the final charge scales with the parameters you set in the form (output size, length, count, references, or whatever knobs this model exposes), so a higher-quality or larger output costs more than a minimal one. The exact cost for your current input is shown live next to the Generate button before you submit, and the actual per-call charge is recorded on the prediction afterwards.
Key inputs: `prompt`, `aspect_ratio`, `language`, `videos`. The full JSON schema (types, defaults, allowed values) is rendered above the Generate button and mirrored in the API reference at https://wavespeed.ai/docs/docs-api/wavespeed-ai/ai-video-editor-auto-edit.
Sign up for a free WaveSpeedAI account to claim starter credits, copy your API key from /accesskey, then call the endpoint shown in the API tab of the playground. The playground also auto-generates a code sample in Python, JavaScript, or cURL for the parameters you've set.
Commercial usage rights depend on the model's license, set by its provider (WaveSpeedAI). Check the provider's applicable terms and WaveSpeedAI's Terms of Service before commercial use.
