WaveSpeed’s Android app is built with Capacitor 6, sharing the same React frontend as the desktop version. This means:

AI inference runs on WaveSpeed’s cloud servers, so your phone’s hardware doesn’t limit what models you can run. A mid-range Android phone can generate the same quality output as a desktop with a high-end GPU.

Getting Started

1. Download

Download the .apk file from the WaveSpeed Desktop releases page.

Requirements: Android 5.0 or later.

2. Install

Enable “Install from unknown sources” in your Android settings, then install the APK.

3. Set Up

Open WaveSpeed
Go to Settings
Enter your WaveSpeedAI API key
Start using the Playground

The 12 free tools work immediately without an API key.

Does it require a powerful phone? No. AI inference runs on WaveSpeed’s cloud servers. Your phone just sends the request and displays results. Any Android 5.0+ device works.

Is the Android app free? The app is free to download. The 12 built-in tools are completely free. Running cloud AI models uses your WaveSpeed account balance (pay-per-use).

Can I use it without an API key? Yes — the 12 free AI tools (image enhancer, background remover, converter, etc.) work without any API key. Only the cloud model Playground requires a WaveSpeed account.

Is it the same as the desktop version? Same interface, same models, same account. The visual workflow editor is desktop-only due to screen size constraints. Everything else is identical.
