Innovation in Motion — Tokyo Time

Tokyo, October 25 — Innovation was in full swing as the “Way to AGI” Global Hackathon: Tokyo Edition kicked off with incredible energy.

As a sponsor and technology partner, WaveSpeedAI collaborated with Bytedance and Way to AGI to showcase its high-performance multimodal generation models at the event. Participants could harness WaveSpeedAI’s powerful model capabilities to create assets, validate ideas, and build live demos in real time — turning “concept to creation” into a matter of moments.

When Creativity Meets Inference Speed

The on-site projects were truly impressive:

First Prize — FaceQuest

The champion team, Kevin and Riko, stole the show with FaceQuest — a “facial yoga meets gamified interaction” concept. By using real-time style-transfer face generation, players had to mimic different facial expressions to “defeat monsters” and complete their training. The result? A fun, immersive way to see how generative AI can make wellness playful and engaging.

Second Prize — Cross‑Cultural Companion

The second-place team, a group of U.S. students, brought an impressive project to the hackathon. They observed that many foreigners in Japan encounter language and cultural hurdles, so they created an app driven by WaveSpeedAI’s multimodal models to help people better adapt to Japanese life — transforming AI into a true communication bridge.

Real-Time Filter Generator

Another standout, the Real-Time Filter Generator, used WaveSpeedAI’s image features to create film-quality effects. Lighting, mood, and visual style can change with a single click — from Doraemon to Kung Fu Panda, leaving each participant with their own customized cinematic filter.

Multilingual Live Translation

The next team we want to share was also impressive. They addressed cross-lingual communication by creating a real-time translation tool powered by WaveSpeedAI’s speech models, allowing participants from different countries to chat easily.

A Global Exchange of Ideas: AI Conversations in Tokyo

Beyond the competition, the Tokyo hackathon turned into a real hub for creative exchange. Participants from diverse backgrounds came together to share their ideas about AI — from the newest models to cross-cultural teamwork and the role of AI in education, healthcare, and the creative industries.

These discussions helped more people understand the true power of WaveSpeedAI — technology that boosts creativity by accelerating innovation.

AI Conversations in Tokyo

Using WaveSpeedAI’s models on-site for prototyping was extremely quick, and the stability was remarkable — almost no concerns about lag or errors,” many developers shared.

They mentioned that with WaveSpeedAI’s high-performance multimodal capabilities, many ideas could be validated in a very short time, making what used to be a complex creative process much more manageable. It also boosted their confidence in cross-border collaboration and exploring diverse application scenarios.
